Immerse yourself in the festive charm of Germany’s Christmas markets where dazzling lights and the sweet aroma of Christmas spice bring the season to life. En route to our hotel, we enjoy a short stop at Oldenburg market, set around St Lamberti Church and the Old Town Hall in the idyllic city centre. Next day, we take in a morning visit to a decorative candle carving factory before continuing to the storybook village of Celle where the half-timbered dwellings in the atmospheric old quarter pulsate with flickering lights as a lofty Christmas tree points the way to a spellbinding world of decorated chalets. The following day it’s the Hanseatic city of Luneburg where the evocative Christmas market features a cluster of adorned chalets around the stately town hall, selling handmade gifts and local foods. Staying at the traditional, low-rise Hotel Schnehagen, near the spa town of Bad Fallingbostel.
