Rye & Hastings
Rye is like a town suspended in time with picturesque ancient streets and meandering cobbled lanes. Perhaps visit the thirteenth century castle known as Ypres Tower where you’ll find a medieval garden and museum. Perhaps head to the National Trust’s Lamb
House, the onetime home of author Henry James. Don’t miss Mermaid Street with its oddly named half-timbered homes. Later we call at Hastings with its three-mile seafront stretching from the fishing fleet, past the hustle and bustle of the funfair and pleasure
pier to the tranquil Grosvenor Gardens.

Brighton
Explore the legendary pier – a lovely place to sip a cuppa while taking in views of the English Channel. The resort’s landmark Royal Pavilion – the lavish seaside palace of George IV – looks like a mini Taj Mahal and houses fine furniture and works of art. Don’t miss the quirky Upside Down Houses on the seafront or get a bird’s eye view of the resort from the Extreme 360 tower.

Guided Tour of Firle Place & Lewes
We take in a guided tour of Firle Place, a graceful stately home with a Georgian façade and a Tudor history. It has been the filming location for dramas such as Emma, Queen Charlotte and The Last Boy. The period rooms house impressive works of art by Gainsborough, Van Dyck and Reynolds along with fine porcelain and Chippendale cabinets. There is also a delightful tea room with terrace. Afterwards, we spend time in the historic town of Lewes, home to a grand Norman castle, and to Anne of Cleves House,
a timber framed dwelling that gives an insight into Tudor life. (Nine day holidays only)
