Our holiday is based in a pretty little pueblo called Roses that stretches between the sea and mountains on Spain’s Costa Brava. Here you can relax on the beautiful beaches or hop aboard a pleasure cruiser to sail around the picturesque coastline. Roses presents a perfect blend of sun, beach and cultural attractions with landmarks such as sixteenth century Trinidad Castle and La Ciutadella pentagonal military fortress. A former Greek colony, you’ll find evidence of the ancient city as well as a natural marina with a network of canals. We get our bearings with a ride through the town aboard the Roses Express Land Train before heading into the Cap de Creus Natural Park, home to seabirds and reptiles. Holiday highlights include our trip on the Little Yellow Train of the Pyrenees, one of the great railway journeys of the world where the track winds through leafy forests, past gushing streams and upwards to the mountain village of Mont-Louis. On another day, we hop aboard the distinctive red and white Train du Pays Cathare et du Fenouilledes – a must do tourist railway trip that takes you deep into the verdant heart of the Pyrenees.

Your Holiday Itinerary

Day One. We travel to our ferry to the continent, where we enjoy dinner, entertainment and breakfast on board.

Day Two. We continue to our dinner, bed and breakfast overnight hotel.

Day Three. We arrive at Roses and check into our hotel for our seven night stay.

Day Four. After a morning at leisure, we board the Roses Express Land Train and trundle into the mountain landscape of Cap de Creus Natural Park – a natural wonder with soaring cliffs, hidden coves, seabirds and wildlife.

Day Five. Look forward to a day in France as we make our way to Rivesaltes where we board the Train du Pays Cathare et du Fenouilledes, known as the ‘Little Red Train’ due to its bright crimson paint. With its open top carriages, you can really experience the mountainous scenery as you roll through deep valleys and past mighty peaks, slowly climbing until you reach the quaint hamlet of Axat, where you will have some free time. We make a stop at La Jonquera shopping outlet on our way back to the hotel.

Days Six & Seven. Two days at leisure to enjoy the many charms of Roses.

Day Eight. Another thrilling day as we journey on the exciting Vall de Nuria Rack Railway, taking in the beauty of this peaceful oasis as your carriage climbs to the Sanctuary of Nuria. Here you will enjoy some time at leisure.

Day Nine. Crossing back into France, we travel into the French Pyrenees where we have some time to explore Villefranche-de-Conflent, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most beautiful villages in France. Then it’s all aboard the Little Yellow Train where our carriage climbs upwards, scaling dramatic landscapes to the Pyrenean commune of Mont-Louis. This citadel was built in the seventeenth century to defend the border and
is now a World Heritage Site. After time to look around this amazing fortification, we return to our hotel by coach.

Day Ten. Adios to Spain as we head to our dinner, bed and breakfast overnight hotel.

Day Eleven. We continue to our overnight ferry back to the UK with dinner, entertainment and breakfast on board.

Day Twelve. We make our way home after a thrilling holiday.

Overnight Ferry to Continent

Your holiday moves up a gear when you board your overnight ferry for your sailing to the continent. Drop your overnight bag in your cabin then explore the ship or unwind with an aperitif in one of the bars.

On Board Dining

All GLENTON continental holidays include dinner and breakfast onboard. Head to buffet restaurant where your waiter will show you to your table and take your order if you wish to purchase any drinks. Then you’re free to help yourself from the wide selection of tasty dishes from around the world. At breakfast, choose from continental or a fully cooked menu. Alternatively if you fancy treating yourself, why not upgrade to the à la carte restaurant and enjoy fine dining with full waiter service?

Make your way to the show lounge and enjoy live entertainment throughout the evening – or take your place on the dance floor for a wee boogie! Perhaps you’d like to catch a blockbuster movie at the cinema or try your luck at the casino.
