This wonderful tour is based in dreamy Diano Marina, an enchanting commune in the Italian region of Liguria with a crescent shaped strip of coastline and where pine clad hills and olive groves reach down to the sweep of sandy beach. It has a palm tree lined promenade flanked by bars and cafes and is one of the premier resorts of the Italian Riviera of Flowers. Away from the waterfront you’ll find a jumble of pastel painted Art Nouveau houses while the ancient heart of the town still preserves parts of its medieval walls and gates as well as grand architecture dating from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque periods. We venture out to see how the rich and famous live and join a local guide for a tour of millionaire’s Monaco, a sovereign city-state where we also visit its glamorous district of Monte Carlo, home to a famous casino. This lavish marble and gold building is Europe’s most extravagant example of belle-epoque architecture.
