Your Excursions

Guided tour of Orkney
We set sail to Orkney for our day trip, where a local coach will take you on an island tour. First stop is the island capital of Kirkwall, home to a twelfth century cathedral, then we continue to beautiful Stromness. Later, we visit Skara Brae - a Stone Age settlement that predates the Pyramids. Final stops are at the Ring of Brodgar, Standing Stones of Stenness and the Italian Chapel.
Mary Ann’s Cottage, Dunnet Bay Distillery & John O’Groats
We visit Mary Ann’s Cottage – a time capsule and an insight into 150 years of crofting life in the far north of Scotland. Afterwards, we move on to Dunnet Bay Distillery for an award-winning tour & taste before receiving a goody bag with lip-smacking samples! We head to John O’Groats for some free time to visit the heritage centre or snap a photo at the famous signpost.
Wick / Thurso
A morning visit to either of the former Viking settlements of Wick or Thurso, depending on which hotel you are staying at. Wick’s castle remains, known as ‘The Old Man of Wick’ sits atop the sea cliffs, overlooking the water. Wick Heritage Centre tells the town’s story with fascinating artefacts. Thurso has a lovely seafront with a beach, esplanade and castle ruins as well as a circular well-house and whisky distillery.
