Wexford & Dunbrody Famine Ship
Our day begins in Wexford, home to a pretty marina, medieval buildings and an arts centre. We then head to New Ross, where we explore the Dunbrody Famine Ship, experiencing life as a famine emigrant through costumed characters. This authentic full-scale reproduction of an 1840’s emigrant vessel depicts life onboard.
Kilkenny & The Land Train
This compact, charming city abounds with historic treasures, and we include some fun sightseeing aboard the Kilkenny Land Train, taking in the landmarks, listening to commentary, and singing along to favourite songs. Afterwards you’ll have free time to explore the city. Why not step behind the imposing stone walls of Kilkenny Castle, see the soaring eaves of St Canice’s Cathedral, view the colourful stained glass of medieval Black Abbey or explore Rothe House – a unique sixteenth century townhouse. Elsewhere, you’ll find the Kilkenny Design Centre shopping mall with its Irish handcrafted gifts, and St Mary’s Church, which houses the Medieval Mile Museum,
filled with artefacts and sculptures.
Mount Congreve Gardens
Mount Congreve Gardens is an eighteenth century Georgian estate and a haven for horticulture and history fans with one of the planet’s largest private collections of plants from every continent. Enjoy the beautiful, themed gardens where you’ll find thousands
of distinctive trees, plants and shrubs. Perhaps treat yourself to a cuppa in the Stables Café and browse the gifts in the Secret Garden Shop.
