Overview:

Irish indulgences get underway with lovely Letterkenny where you’ll find craft shops, pretty parks and heritage sites. Derry delivers a grand procession of Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian architecture encircled by ancient walls and we include both a guided tour and entry to the city’s Tower Museum. We pop into historic Donegal Town on the banks of the River Eske then pause at Sligo, a coastal resort with crashing waves and golden sands. Next up is fourteenth century Ballina, nestling at the mouth of the River Moy and blessed with a stunning coastline. We cross the Michael Davitt Bridge to Achill Island, with its sleepy villages, powdery beaches and sky scraping Mount
Slievemore. Galway beckons, a colourful town with winding alleys then we venture onwards to the charming medieval city of Limerick. A toe-tapping evening of traditional Irish entertainment at Dublin’s legendary Taylors Three Rocks nightspot is icing on the cake of our spectacular Irish adventure!

Thursday. We journey to Cairnryan for our ferry then onwards to Letterkenny where we check in at the Station Hotel for two nights.

Friday. Treats kick off with a guided tour of Derry, Ireland’s only walled city and where intriguing sights include St Columbs Cathedral and the political murals. We include entry to the award winning Tower Museum where “The Story of Derry” and “An Armada Shipwreck” are the main exhibitions.

Saturday. We spend the morning in Donegal Town, home to a fifteenth century castle, Railway Heritage Museum and a craft village. From here we continue to Sligo for some free time to relax on the beach before heading to the Twin Trees Hotel & Leisure Club in Ballina for our two night stay.

Sunday. This morning we follow the spectacular Atlantic Coast Drive, overlooking the ocean and the island of Clare, arriving at Achill Island. This hidden gem is home to a Neolithic tomb and a deserted village that stands as a poignant reminder of the Great Famine.

Monday. Enjoy a morning at the National Museum of Ireland in Castlebar where you can learn all about the traditional way of life on the Emerald Isle through folk themed exhibitions. Afternoon brings a guided tour of Galway, a gorgeous city that packs a lot of hidden treasures into its winding streets. From here we travel to the Limerick City Hotel for our two night stay.

Tuesday. Get your bearings and a taste of Limerick with our morning guided walking tour then continue sightseeing at your own pace. Perhaps explore thirteenth century King John’s Castle on King’s Island in the medieval heart of the city - a thirteenth century fortress with a state-of-the-art visitor centre that brings history to life. Elsewhere, view the collections at the City Gallery of Art or the rare antiquities at the Hunt Museum.

Wednesday. A free morning in Limerick to do your own thing before we journey to Bray and check in to the Esplanade Hotel for our two night stay. Time to get your glad rags on for our fantastic night out at Taylors Three Rocks. Here we tuck into a delicious three course meal along with a whiskey and an Irish coffee before the entertainment kicks off. Look forward to Irish dancers and musicians – and get ready to join in!

Thursday. We head to Dublin Fair City where we visit the brand new GPO Witness History Visitor Centre in legendary O’Connell Street where a band of rebels stormed the building on Easter Monday 1916. Here you will experience the events of the Easter Rising from both sides of the conflict at this interactive attraction. The rest of the day is yours to explore at your own pace.

Friday. We head for our ferry back to Cairnryan and continue home.
