Overview

This varied holiday features coast, country and city and is based in cosmopolitan Newcastle, a vibrant metropolis united by seven bridges
that span the River Tyne. The city’s bustling Quayside boasts an array of bars as well as the iconic Millennium Bridge – a graceful structure and the world’s only tilting bridge. Enjoy the distinctive view from the embankment or perhaps take a pleasure boat trip up the Tyne. Out and about we explore the Northumbrian coastline, the historic market town of Barnard Castle and enjoy a guided tour of mighty Alnwick Castle.

Your Excursions:

Alnwick Garden & Castle
Our day out includes a private “Battleaxe to Broomsticks” tour where a costumed guide regales us with tales of the castle’s turbulent history as well as its more recent stint as Hogwart’s School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter films.

Bamburgh, Seahouses & Lindisfarne
We discover the heritage coastline stopping at Bamburgh with its fairytale castle, the fishing village of Seahouses and Lindisfarne, said to be the birthplace of Christianity.

Barnard Castle
On our return journey we visit this enchanting must see market town built around a majestic twelfth century castle overlooking the tumultuous River Tees. Its delightful streets are crammed with antique and local crafts shops as well as quirky treasures such as the bullet-marked market cross. The nearby Bowes Museum is a French-style chateau surrounded by gardens and housing decorative arts and is well worth a visit.

Door to Door

Where advertised our door to door service is available to customers living within ten miles of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dunfermline and Hamilton. On our cruise and air holidays we offer an extended service with a radius of 35 miles from the listed points.
